The Real Reason Adam Sandler Officiated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot Friday evening at Madison Square Garden in front of roughly 1,000 guests. One of the night’s biggest surprises wasn’t just the star-studded guest list—it was the person standing with them at the altar.

Comedy icon Adam Sandler, 59, best known for Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, officiated the ceremony. Taylor’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine, later confirmed the news in an official statement.

Taylor’s brother, Austin Swift, served as her Man of Honor, while Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, stood beside him as Best Man. The couple chose to skip traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen altogether.

For the occasion, Swift wore a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture wedding gown designed by Jonathan Anderson—his first-ever couture bridal design for a celebrity. She completed the look with Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry.

Why Adam Sandler Was Chosen

According to sources close to the couple, there were two main reasons Sandler was asked to officiate.

First, he’s a longtime Swift fan. Sandler and his daughters, Sadie and Sunny, have attended multiple Eras Tour shows together, and he’s often spoken about how much Taylor Swift means to his family. During an appearance on Howard Stern’s show, he said she “means an awful lot to our house.”

At the same time, Travis Kelce has been a longtime admirer of Sandler’s movies, frequently mentioning them on his New Heights podcast. After Swift and Kelce made their relationship public in 2023, Sandler was among the first major Hollywood stars to publicly show his support.

Sources say Sandler spent several weeks working closely with the couple to create a ceremony that blended heartfelt moments with his signature sense of humor. And for the special occasion, he traded his trademark basketball shorts and oversized polo shirt for a classic tuxedo.
