Authorities have released a statement after celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was taken to a hospital following a troubling TikTok livestream that raised concerns among viewers.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Hilton’s Florida residence after receiving reports that he was allegedly “livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.” Officials later confirmed that Hilton was safely located and transported to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.
Deputies used crisis intervention methods during response
The sheriff’s office said deputies followed established crisis response procedures and focused on safely de-escalating the situation.
“In situations involving someone experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies often prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the department explained.
Officials said that, unless there is an immediate danger to others, slowing the situation down and using crisis intervention techniques can help prevent further harm and reduce risks for the individual, law enforcement officers, and the public.
The department also confirmed that support was being offered to Hilton’s family during the incident.
Authorities later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the person involved was Hilton and said he was “safely recovered” before being taken to the hospital.
Representatives say they were unable to contact him
Hilton’s representatives at Golden Artists Entertainment also responded to the situation, saying they were aware of the “concerning content circulating online” involving their client.
The company said they had made repeated attempts to contact Hilton but had not been able to reach him at the time.
“Our main priority is Perez’s health and safety, along with the well-being of his family,” the statement said.
Following the incident, Hilton’s TikTok account appeared to have been removed from the platform.
Perez Hilton previously opened up about serious health scare
Hilton became widely known in the early 2000s after creating his celebrity gossip website, PerezHilton.com. Over the years, he has appeared on multiple television shows, including Celebrity Big Brother, and hosted his own program, Perez Hilton Superfan.
Earlier this year, Hilton revealed that he spent 21 days in the hospital after suffering from a severe case of sepsis.
He explained that after being prescribed medication while battling the flu, he took the medicine for about a week without eating properly. According to Hilton, this contributed to the development of a stomach ulcer, which later became severe and allowed bacteria to enter his bloodstream.
“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days… It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he previously shared.
Hilton said the experience changed his perspective, adding that sepsis can be a life-threatening condition and that many people do not survive it.
