Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized former President Barack Obama over the years, often blaming him for a wide range of issues — including recent controversies surrounding the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Now, Obama has finally responded, describing Trump’s continued focus on him as an “obsession.”
Former President Barack Obama recently addressed Donald Trump’s repeated attacks during an appearance on the podcast All the Smoke with former NBA player Matt Barnes. While Obama did not directly mention Trump by name, it was clear who the conversation was about.
Barnes pointed out that Trump appeared to be “very fascinated” with Obama and his family, praising Obama for responding to what he described as negativity and racism with dignity. He then asked whether Obama ever feels like confronting Trump more aggressively.

Obama replied that people should “ask him what it is,” before agreeing that the issue seemed to be an “obsession.”
“The obsession,” Obama said. “I obviously have a room in his head — a suite in his head.”
He joked that he was living “rent-free” in Trump’s mind, suggesting that Trump’s repeated mentions of him say more about Trump himself than any political disagreement.
Obama also reflected on his own time in office, explaining that when he succeeded former President George W. Bush, he was focused on his own responsibilities rather than constantly looking back at his predecessor.
“They’re gone. I’ve got work to do,” Obama said, adding that constantly worrying about a previous president shows a lack of focus on the people and the job at hand.
