The president posted on Truth Social after competing on Sunday, August 2, at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, announcing that he had won both the Senior Men’s and Super Senior Men’s Club Championships with a score of 70.
Along with the video, Trump praised his own performance while taking a jab at his competitors.
“The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Rather than simply congratulating him, many social media users questioned the legitimacy of the victory. The video quickly sparked debate, with critics claiming it added to the long-running allegations surrounding Trump’s golf game.
One X user wrote, “Look how fake that is when the ball just puts the brakes on. What a loser and cheater.” Another sarcastically asked whether the ball “automatically counted as going in the hole,” while another joked that “alien technology” must have been involved.
Others pointed to previous accusations, with one commenter claiming there was video footage showing Trump’s caddie moving his ball during a round. Another argued that allegations of Trump cheating on the golf course have been “well documented,” while others questioned why so many of his championship victories have come at courses he owns.
Trump has frequently highlighted his success in golf, claiming dozens of club championship titles over the years. In 2023, he celebrated another Bedminster victory on Truth Social, writing that he was “just a good golfer/athlete” and proud of his many championship wins.
The latest celebration has once again revived accusations that have followed him for years.

Sportswriter Rick Reilly dedicated an entire book, Commander in Cheat, to claims about Trump’s golf habits. The former Sports Illustrated columnist alleged that Trump regularly improved his lies, took multiple mulligans, and exaggerated his scores. Reilly even claimed that caddies at Winged Foot nicknamed Trump “Pelé” because they often saw him kick his ball back into the fairway.
Trump has consistently denied all allegations that he cheats while playing golf.
Reilly, who has known Trump for years, previously said he found him entertaining as a public figure but had no interest in playing another round of golf with him unless it was for a story.
Other public figures have also questioned Trump’s golf reputation over the years. LPGA star Suzann Pettersen was reported to have accused him of cheating in 2018, while actor Samuel L. Jackson made similar claims in 2016.
Questions surrounding Trump’s golf victories have resurfaced repeatedly, particularly because many of his reported 40-plus club championship titles were won at courses he owns. Critics have also pointed to previous viral videos, including footage from Scotland that some viewers claimed appeared to show a caddie moving or dropping Trump’s ball closer to the hole.
Despite the renewed criticism, Trump has shown no sign of backing away from his claims, insisting that his success comes down to one thing.
