Golf legend Tiger Woods, 50, made an appearance at a Florida courthouse alongside his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, to resolve his March DUI arrest. However, observers quickly fixated on a notable aspect of the couple’s body language. Arriving at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart on Sept. 2, the pair walked past waiting journalists and photographers without offering any comment.
Vanessa, 48—who divorced Donald Trump Jr. in 2018 and shares five children with him—has been dating Woods since 2025. The 15-time major champion officially confirmed their relationship last March. This time, she stood by his side as he navigated a legal process that had been unfolding for over five months.
A Strict Ruling
Inside the courtroom, Woods changed his original not-guilty plea to no contest after prosecutors agreed to reduce the charges stemming from his March 27 single-vehicle rollover crash near his Jupiter Island residence. Under the terms of the agreement, the DUI charge was dismissed, and Woods pleaded instead to reckless and careless driving.
While the deal allowed him to avoid jail time, it included a mandatory five-year driver’s license suspension and approximately $1,500 in fines.
“There are no exceptions,” Judge Darren Steele informed Woods during the proceeding. “If you drive for any reason whatsoever, you will go directly to jail.”
Evidence of Impairment
The charges originated from an incident on March 27, when Woods’ Land Rover struck a truck towing a pressure-cleaning trailer before turning onto its side. Responding deputies noted that Woods showed clear indicators of impairment, including glassy, bloodshot eyes and heavily dilated pupils, along with hydrocodone pills found in his pocket. After declining to submit a urine sample, he was arrested for DUI and initially pleaded not guilty.
Seeking Recovery
Following the crash, Woods publicly addressed his situation, announcing that he would take a temporary leave from public life to undergo treatment.
“I fully grasp the gravity of the situation I am in,” Woods stated on March 31. “I am dedicated to taking the necessary time to return healthier, stronger, and more focused, both personally and professionally.”
Tension in the Relationship
Behind closed doors, the incident reportedly created serious friction between Woods and Vanessa. Sources indicated that she viewed the crash as a major warning sign, issuing an ultimatum that he get his life under control if he wanted the relationship to continue.
An apologetic Woods subsequently entered an inpatient facility in Switzerland for several months. He temporarily paused his treatment program in May to fly back to Florida after Vanessa revealed she was being treated for breast cancer.
