Richie reportedly checked himself into the hospital as a precaution after becoming ill during a performance in St. Louis.
The 77-year-old singer is currently touring with Earth, Wind & Fire. During a performance of his iconic hit “All Night Long,” Richie asked for a chair and sat down while onstage. Following the performance, he went to the hospital to get checked out and make sure there were no serious concerns.
TMZ later reported that Richie underwent cardiac testing after being admitted, while doctors also investigated possible dehydration.
Fans were particularly worried about the legendary singer because this latest incident comes after another health scare earlier this year.
In June, Richie was performing in Minnesota when he unexpectedly stopped the concert about an hour after it began. The audience waited roughly 40 minutes before a member of his band came onstage and announced that Richie would not be returning for the remainder of the show.
Earlier in that performance, Richie had told the crowd that he was feeling dizzy.
“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” Richie said, according to a video recorded by an audience member.
