Even in winter, I go outside every morning\u2014brushing snow off my trees, checking everything, keeping it clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then a young woman moved into the house next door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first, it was small things\u2014an empty energy drink can, a greasy takeout bag, cigarette butts on my walkway. I didn\u2019t complain. I just cleaned it up and moved on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it kept happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then one morning, after a fresh snowfall, I rolled outside with my coffee\u2026 and just froze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right under my two young maple trees was the ENTIRE contents of her trash can. Dumped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coffee grounds, wet paper, food scraps, wrappers\u2014spread across the snow, ruining everything I had worked so hard to maintain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the footprints? They led straight from her side gate to my yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to her door and knocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She opened it like I was bothering her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDid you dump your trash in my yard?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She shrugged. \u201cSo?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s my property,\u201d I said. \u201cThose are my trees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She rolled her eyes. \u201cIt\u2019s outside. It\u2019s tiny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI put a lot of effort into it,\u201d I replied. \u201cYou\u2019ll like what\u2019s inside.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She grabbed it and shut the door in my face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I didn\u2019t move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just rolled back home, sat by my window\u2026 and waited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A minute passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And suddenly\u2014her door BURST open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWHAT DID YOU DO?!\u201d she screamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole street turned to look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took a slow sip of my beer and smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because inside that little box\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026was everything she had dumped into my yard earlier that morning\u2014carefully packed, sealed tight, and brought right back to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that wasn\u2019t the best part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had also included something extra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clear photos of her dumping the trash in my yard\u2014taken from the small security camera I installed months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And on top of it all\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026a printed note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cNext time, this goes to the police.
