I was seven months pregnant, flying home alone after a long and exhausting work trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All I wanted was to get back to my husband, Daniel, lie down in my own bed, and not move for days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I thought it would be a quiet, uneventful flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman next to me \u2014 let\u2019s call her Vanessa \u2014 started complaining before we even took off. The seat was uncomfortable, the temperature was wrong, the delay was \u201cridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She kept pressing the call button over and over, talking to the flight attendant like she owned the plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At one point, she hit me with her elbow while adjusting herself\u2026 and didn\u2019t even bother to apologize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I tried to ignore it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I really did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But slowly, she started taking over my space \u2014 her bag, her jacket, even her drink inching onto my side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I shifted, already uncomfortable, trying to protect my belly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then\u2026 it got worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About halfway through the flight, she took off her shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then her socks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before I could even process what was happening \u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n
she lifted her bare feet and placed them right on my tray table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Right where my food was supposed to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Right in front of me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I just stared at her for a second, hoping she\u2019d realize how inappropriate that was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I leaned toward her and said, as calmly as I could,
\u201cExcuse me, could you please move your feet?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She looked at me, completely unfazed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then she smirked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh really? And what are you going to do about it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I wasn\u2019t ready for a confrontation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I quietly stood up and went to the restroom just to calm down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But when I came back\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
everything had changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A flight attendant was standing next to our seats, her expression serious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Vanessa?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She looked completely different \u2014 no smirk, no attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just embarrassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apparently, while I was gone, another passenger had reported her behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The crew had seen everything \u2014 including her feet on my tray table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flight attendant calmly but firmly told her that her behavior was unacceptable, especially toward a pregnant passenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was asked to remove her feet immediately and warned that if she continued, further action would be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then came the part she didn\u2019t expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They moved her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Right in the middle of the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To a cramped seat near the back, with barely any space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, I was offered a much more comfortable seat \u2014 with extra room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I settled into my new spot, one of the flight attendants smiled and said softly,
\u201cDon\u2019t worry, we\u2019ve taken care of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I didn\u2019t say anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I just smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
