2026 has already been a heartbreaking year for the country music community. We\u2019ve said goodbye to beloved stars, musicians, songwriters, and longtime friends whose contributions touched countless lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those remembered are Jim McBride<\/strong>, the legendary songwriter behind hits like \u201cChattahoochee\u201d and \u201cChasin\u2019 That Neon Rainbow\u201d; Nancy Seltzer<\/strong>, Garth Brooks\u2019 longtime publicist and close friend; and Pete Finney<\/strong>, the acclaimed steel guitarist who performed with artists including Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, and The Judds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The community also mourned Jerry Kennedy<\/strong>, a four-time Grammy-winning guitarist and producer; Augie Meyers<\/strong>, a founding member of the Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornados; and Ronnie Bowman<\/strong>, the award-winning bluegrass songwriter who co-wrote Chris Stapleton\u2019s \u201cNobody to Blame.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other losses included musician Jason Simpson<\/strong>, songwriter Don Schlitz<\/strong>, legendary guitarist Wayne Moss<\/strong>, and The Voice<\/em> alum Dylan Carter<\/strong>, who passed away at just 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The country world also said farewell to outlaw country legend David Allan Coe<\/strong>, longtime WSM and Grand Ole Opry announcer Bill Cody<\/strong>, and beloved fiddler Violet Hensley<\/strong>, who lived to the remarkable age of 109.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In August, fans were devastated by the deaths of actress and country star Hayden Panettiere<\/strong>, known for Nashville<\/em>, and country music icon Dolly Parton<\/strong>, whose influence reached far beyond music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each of these individuals left behind a unique legacy, unforgettable music, cherished memories, and countless people who will continue to remember them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n May they all rest in peace, and may their legacies live on through the music and memories they left behind.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" 2026 has already been a heartbreaking year for the country music community.
