The iconic singer appeared on Bunnie Xo\u2019s Dumb Blonde<\/em> podcast in early 2024 for an episode titled Dolly Parton: Queen of Everything<\/em>. During the conversation, the two discussed a wide range of subjects, including Dolly\u2019s early career, celebrity crushes, love, loss, and grief. Bunnie described the opportunity to interview the legendary country star as \u201ca dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dolly grew up in humble circumstances and moved to Nashville the day after graduating from high school to pursue her dreams of becoming a musician. At the time, the young singer jokingly recalled leaving two boyfriends back home as she set out to build a career in Music City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When she arrived in Nashville at just 18 years old, Dolly said she had no plans to get into another relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe last thing I want is a boyfriend,\u201d she remembered telling herself. Carl Dean, who was three years older than Dolly, was working in asphalt paving at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The couple married on May 30, 1966, and remained together for almost 60 years. During her conversation with Bunnie, Dolly opened up about what she believed helped make their marriage last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe\u2019s a good guy \u2013 He\u2019s quiet, and I\u2019m loud,\u201d Dolly explained. She then pointed to one of the most important ingredients in their relationship: having fun together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOne of the things that\u2019s made it last so long through the years \u2013 we love each other, we respect each other, but we have a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dolly also explained that whenever tension began building between them, they knew how to break the mood rather than allowing disagreements to escalate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She recalled, \u201cWe never fought back and forth. In 1967, she won her first award, the BMI Song of the Year, and she \u201cbegged\u201d her new husband to go with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Carl agreed, but Dolly could tell that he was uncomfortable being surrounded by the music business and attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After that experience, the couple reached an understanding.
