At first, this looks very easy—but many people get it wrong because they don’t count everything carefully. The trick is to go step by step.
Step 1: Count the biggest circle
There is 1 large outer circle that surrounds everything.
Total so far: 1
Step 2: Count the medium circles inside
Inside the big circle, there are 4 medium circles (top, bottom, left, right).
Add them: 1 + 4 = 5
Step 3: Count the small circles
Each medium circle has 2 small circles inside it.
Since there are 4 medium circles:
4 × 2 = 8 small circles
Add them: 5 + 8 = 13
Step 4: Check again
Make sure you didn’t miss anything:
- 1 big circle
- 4 medium circles
- 8 small circles
