An unexpected Midwest contender is sitting near the top of Polymarket’s World Series favorites heading into next month’s championship series.
That team is the Milwaukee Brewers, who ended the 2026 regular season with the best record in Major League Baseball at 103-59. Milwaukee dominated the National League Central, finishing an impressive 14 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs.
That 14-game gap between first and second place was the largest division lead in MLB this season.
The Brew Crew also closed out the regular season on a strong note, winning eight of their final 10 games. Milwaukee will now wait to find out whether the San Diego Padres or Chicago Cubs will advance from their Wild Card matchup. The Brewers are scheduled to begin their National League Division Series on Friday, October 2.
According to Polymarket, Milwaukee enters the postseason with the second-highest odds of winning the World Series, behind only the Los Angeles Dodgers, who finished with MLB’s second-best regular-season record at 100-62.
The Dodgers are currently viewed by bettors at 30% to win the championship, while Milwaukee sits at 16%. Behind those two teams are the Tampa Bay Rays at 11% and the New York Yankees at 10%.
A World Series championship would be historic for Milwaukee. The Brewers have never won the Fall Classic and have appeared in the World Series only once, in 1982, when they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
Their most recent deep postseason run came in 2018, when Milwaukee reached the NLCS before losing a seven-game series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who went on to win the World Series.
If the Brewers are going to finally break through in 2026, they have plenty of talent leading the way. Two of their key stars are All-Star catcher William Contreras and pitcher Jacob Misiorowski.
Contreras finished the regular season batting .270 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs. Misiorowski, known as “The Miz,” ended the year at the top of several major pitching categories, leading MLB with a 1.80 ERA, 252 strikeouts and a .157 opponents’ batting average.
The MLB postseason gets underway Tuesday, September 28, with four games on the schedule, including Philadelphia taking on Atlanta and the Chicago Cubs traveling to San Diego to face the Padres.
