Country music legend Randy Travis is reaching into his archives to bring new music to his longtime fans.
Earlier this year, the “Forever and Ever, Amen” singer announced that a new album was in the works. Following Travis’ devastating stroke in 2013, many believed his days of making music were behind him. The stroke caused severe damage to the left side of his brain, leaving him with expressive aphasia, which affects his ability to speak and sing, as well as requiring long-term wheelchair use.
However, a combination of previously unreleased recordings and modern technology has helped make the new project possible. Travis’ longtime producer, Kyle Lehning, remixed and remastered unreleased original recordings taken from the singer’s decades-long career.
New Album Details Confirmed
Randy Travis will release his first album of new music in more than 18 years on November 13. It will mark his 24th studio album. The 12-track project, Same Old Way, features previously released songs including “Fish On” and “I Don’t Care,” along with several other tracks.
According to a press release, the songs “span Randy’s distinguished recording career from 1986 to 2013.”
Travis shared:
“When life throws you a curveball, swing for the fences the ‘same old way’ and hope you knock it out of the park! Team Travis helped me run the bases on this one, and it feels like a home run! It’s a joy and a blessing to be able to bring new music to my listeners—thank you all for still showing up for me.”

On Friday, September 4, Randy Travis released the title track from his upcoming album, “Same Old Way.” Co-written with Kyle Lehning, the song brings Travis’ classic country sound into the modern era.
