Dolly Parton’s family has revealed plans for a small, private funeral following the legendary singer’s death at the age of 80.
According to a statement shared by her family, the private service will be attended only by immediate family members, honoring Parton’s wishes.

Rather than organizing a large public funeral, her loved ones are encouraging fans around the world to remember and celebrate her in their own way.
“Dolly’s fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging @DollyParton or by leaving a message.”
The family has also asked those wishing to honor Parton to consider donating to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the charity she founded that provides free books to children.
The family’s announcement described Parton as a global icon and humanitarian whose extraordinary career spanned music, songwriting, acting, philanthropy, theater and literature.
They said she “died peacefully” in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 80, surrounded by the legacy of a life that touched millions.
“A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family.”

Nephew Shares the Heartbreaking News
Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, was the family member who announced her death in an emotional video shared through her Instagram account.
He spoke openly about the difficulty of saying goodbye to someone whose influence had been so enormous.
“I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t really felt it until now,” he said.
“It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly.”
Seaver also reflected on the profound impact Parton had on her family and on generations of people around the world.
He explained that she had opened doors for her relatives while also inspiring countless singers, musicians, songwriters and dreamers.

Dolly Parton’s Cause of Death
Parton’s death came shortly after what became her final interview with People, during which she spoke about her health and the difficult period surrounding her husband Carl Dean’s death.
She revealed that she had put some of her own health concerns aside while caring for her husband.
“I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl,” she said.
Even while dealing with those challenges, however, Parton made it clear that she had no intention of giving up on her career.
“I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin’.”
Later, a representative for Parton’s estate confirmed the cause of death to The New York Times.
In a statement also shared with People, the representative said Parton had been battling cancer before her death.
“After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.”
The representative did not reveal the specific type of cancer she had been diagnosed with.
Earlier reports had also indicated that Parton had been hospitalized while dealing with kidney and autoimmune-related health issues.
