Instead, turn on the rear defroster and give it some time to work.

And never pour boiling water over frozen automotive glass. A sudden temperature change can cause the glass to crack or become damaged.
When cleaning the inside of the window, use a soft cloth and gentle pressure, particularly around the defroster grid.
