Kim Kardashian’s oldest daughter, North West, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West, is once again making headlines. Now 12 years old, North’s latest public appearance has reignited conversations about both her style and Kim’s parenting.

North attended the first day of Coachella in Indio, California, on April 10 alongside Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner. Dressed in a goth-inspired look featuring a graphic T-shirt, shorts, chunky jewelry, oversized platform boots, and a bright blue wig, she quickly caught the attention of festivalgoers and social media users alike.
A video shared on X by user Matt Wallace soon went viral, but it wasn’t just North’s outfit that drew attention. Many viewers focused on the way she walked, with some claiming her knees appeared to turn inward or lock while walking.
The clip sparked thousands of reactions. Some users mocked her appearance, with one commenting, “Her feet are going North and West…” while another wrote, “She’s just a chubby kid. That’s the fat gait.”
Others were quick to defend the 12-year-old, calling out the harsh criticism. “She’s a kid… maybe let’s not overanalyze or speculate about her like this,” one person wrote. Another added, “Seriously, she’s a child. Why are adults picking apart the way she walks?”
Some users also suggested there could be harmless explanations, such as poorly fitting shoes or a normal growth spurt. One commenter pointed out that many children experience knock-knees or awkward walking patterns during puberty and that it’s nothing unusual.
This isn’t the first time North has gone viral because of her appearance. Earlier this year, she attracted attention after showing off an elaborate manicure featuring long nails, spikes, and piercing-inspired details, which also sparked debate online.
Despite the constant scrutiny, North has shown confidence in handling the attention. In one video, she responded to critics by saying, “Why are you crying? How old are you? Just pull it together.”
Kim Kardashian has also addressed the criticism in the past, describing North as “really confident” and explaining that while she sets boundaries as a parent, she allows her daughter to express herself through fashion.
